So it's been just over two weeks since we took possession of our new humble abode, and we've been hard at work. We dove right into a long list of projects and have made quite a few changes so far. There are obviously still lots of things to come, but we wanted to share some before and durings (not afters!) of where we are right now.
The afters will be posted as they come, but are most likely a few weeks away still. We have some rooms that are almost to their resting place, such as the first floor guest room and basement. These rooms are how they will remain for the foreseeable future, but long term will also be getting facelifts (guest room) and massive overhauls (basement). So without further delay, here are the glamour shots you've been asking for.

Living Room - During
This was the first room we painted, as it's where we will be spending the majority of our time. Don't mind the one curtain panel, futon and chairs from my high school days, or the painter's tape outline of our new sectional. :) All those things are temporary.

I'm not kidding when I say having a true laundry room is a HUGE reason I loved this home. It's right off the kitchen, and accesses the garage AND the back yard. Win, win, win. We ripped out all the old shelving, painted the walls and ceiling, laid new tile, added new baseboards and trim. Still to come are the new storm door (with built in doggie door!), painting the doors themselves. We love that it has space for our deep freeze and two pantry units - one for bulk ingredients, the other for our cleaning supplies, including all our Norwex, the vacuum and the carpet cleaner.

This room was lots of hours of work and is still a work in progress. We spent nearly 10 hours stripping the old wallpaper, then primed the ceiling and walls. The ceiling took three coats of paint, and the walls took two. Shout out to Marti who came and spent a day helping paint the ceiling with me! We have plans of adding barn wood to the half wall behind our bed, and also upgrading to a king size bed (we have two large, spoiled babies who like to sleep with us, you know.) The height of the wall is proving to be a difficult challenge in finding the right head board, hence the reason our box spring and mattress are on the floor here.
Stay tuned... there are more rooms that are *almost* share worthy. ;)
